Welcome! Pour yourself a cup of tea or coffee, a glass of wine, or a beer. I hope you’ll stay a while.
My name is Sarah, and this is my little corner of the Internets.
I have a wonderful husband “Atticus” and a beautiful daughter Maggie.
We’re Catholic, by baptism and by choice. We love the Church, warts and all. We strive to follow all of the Church’s teachings. We love taking our scruffy, black dog Sirius to the park. Every Saturday from September through November is Notre Dame football. We’ve been known to conduct a culinary experiment from time to time.
Here’s a rundown of the family:
Sarah (otherwise known as mama bear)
I’m a traditional girl living in a not-so-traditional world. I love God, dark chocolate, good champagne, shopping, books, culinary experiments, Rome, Notre Dame football and poetry. But I love my husband and daughter more than anything.
I’m a “small c” conservative. I believe in conserving the family first and foremost. I believe in conserving the Earth and all it’s resources. I guess you could say we dabble in “crunchy”. I believe in conservatism that actually conserves, and seeks the good, the true, and the beautiful in all things.
I’m passionately pro-life, in every sense of the word.
I love football, the smell of fresh baked goods, and lazy Sunday afternoons.
I believe in the power of education to help people help themselves.
I believe in the saints’ intercession and I ask for it often.
I believe there can never be too much beauty in the world, and I strive to make my own little corner of it more beautiful.
My patron saint is Bernadette.
Atticus
“Atticus” is my better half. That’s not his real name, but I call him that because he’s a lawyer, and a good, good man. Just like Atticus Finch.
He loves legal philosophy, Church history, Purdue basketball, gardening, Notre Dame football, and spicy food. He always wins at Trivial Pursuit.
He loves Cardinal Newman’s writing. It played an integral role in his decision to enter the Church in 2006.
One of his dream jobs would be a law professor. Or a farmer. He loves Wendell Berry and TS Eliot.
He plays the cello and it melts my heart.
His patron saint is Thomas More.
Michael John
We miscarried our first baby at about 8 weeks, in March of 2009, just three months after getting married. We spiritually baptized him Michael John. As we tell Maggie during bedtime prayers, she has a big brother and our family has a little saint in Heaven, praying for us all.
“We’ll leave behind my dear, The pain and sadness we found here…
Where the sky grows gray and wide, We’ll meet on the other side, There across the border” -Bruce Springsteen
Maggie
Maggie was born Margaret Gianna on December 28th, 2010. She loves her mom and dad, books, the dog, “mr. duck” (a yellow stuffed water fowl), and giggling.
She is a happy, mellow baby who wakes up with a smile nearly every morning. She’s very chatty, and loves to go out and meet new people. She is exploring and learning about the world. Every day is a new adventure, for her and for me!
Her patron saints are Margaret of Scotland and Gianna Molla.

Hi Sarah,
I found your blog while I was searching for PCOS related stuff. I really liked your “about me” section. We have lot in common including the PCOS. Today I stand strong only because I believe in God. I have been able to overcome PCOS only because God lead me on the right path. It’s amazing at every point how he has pointed me to a right person, a right book or a right blog which have helped me tremendously. I used to wear a size 8 last year. Now I wear size 2. It is only about the looks but also about how I feel now and how my faith in God has strengthened. I wanted to tell you know you have a wonderful blog and I appreciate your work. I live in Indianapolis too. If its OK with you I would like to get in touch with you. Please write to me when you get a chance
Hello Sarah,
I am reading your blog for the first time today, but I am finding it sooo interesting so far. I, too, struggle with PCOS; now that I am finally finished with my education and beginning a new chapter in my life, I have a renewed motivation to really take good care of myself and get myself into better shape. I have always felt so burdened by PCOS and do not know anyone else (at least that I know of) that has it – I have recently discovered how much support (and information!) there is available online. It also looks like you have a lot of interesting posts on Catholicism; I converted just this past April and am so excited to continue learning more and growing more in the faith!
Congratulations on your pregnancy – what a wonderful blessing! I am really looking forward to reading more on your blog!!!
We should get together with the kids sometime! Email me!
