Make sure you leave a comment on my Catholic Speakers Month post about Sr. Helen Prejean, so you can be entered in the giveaway to win a copy of one of her books, either Dead Man Walking or Death of Innocents.

So I got new glasses this week. I had my first eye exam in two years, and my perscription changed so I needed new glasses. What do you think?
I’m not sure yet. I loved, loved, loved my purple cat-eye frames.

Just finished cycle #5 trying to conceive. Am holding my breath, saying a prayer and jumping back on the TTC hampster wheel. At least I’m not waiting a year to call a doctor this time. Now I just need the NaPro doc to call me back! I am stalking her. No, really.

I think things might be quiet around here for a while. I am going to try and post once a week, and I am still plugging away on my Catholic social teaching posts. I just need a break from the computer. I am longing to read more, to spend more time in prayer, and frankly I need a break from the onslaught of (a) political bullshit and (b) pregnancy announcements. It seems like every time I sign on to the internet/facebook, I either want to punch someone, cry, or both.
Not good.

Next week I am going to post a guest post from a lovely woman who was in my grad program at Loyola. She is working with an awesome community garden in Chicago, and she’s going to be doing semi-regular guest posts about sustainable eating and social justice.
Her post next week will be about “eating as a political act”. Get excited!

Please pray for a special intention. And if you’ve seen #5, no I am not pregnant. It actually has nothing to do with me, but if you could pray for it, I would be ever so grateful.

Have you seen Ravelry?
I signed up last fall and forgot about it. How stupid. Then I remembered how great it is, and I am back to crocheting like a crazy woman.
I am going to make an awesome teal toddler hat, a mustard yellow slouchy hat for myself, and bunch of things for the many, many babies in my life.
Crocheting is such a great stress reliever. Do you have a go-to stress reliever?
WOAH! I just saw what was here….and it was not what I posted. What I posted was a picture of a man sitting on a subway train wearing an outfit made entirely of crochet. Do not know what happened; sorry about that friends!
Hope you all have a great weekend! Go see Jen for more quick takes!

Ironically, my stress reliever is running. I really like your new glasses! They look great on you!
Praying for your TTC time
I’m praying for you, Sarah! And I’ll add the special intention to my prayers, too.
I do not have the patience to crochet. I wish I did, though!
I am right there with you about the computer. I’ve also found myself longing to be away for many of the reasons you mentioned. Also, I’ve just gotten busy having fun with my kiddos!! I think about how you make yourself stand at the computer so you won’t stay on as long. I love that idea!!
I think the new glasses are adorable!
The new glasses look great!
I cannot wait for the community garden post! Woo hoo!
I love the glasses! I could never pull those off… I have old Granny glasses! I’ll miss your posts, but understand the need to take a break from the internet. Just know you are in my prayers!
#4- I have been craving both reading and prayer lately, too, and find myself just wasting time online because it’s ‘easy’. I’m really trying to work on that and your take was a good reminder!
Thank you for writing and for sharing. I will say a prayer and add your concern to our church’s prayer chain.
I’m regs78 on ravelry! I shd post some recent projects
#4: I so hear ya! I’m having to be really intentional about skipping certain blogs right now because they will drive me batty with political mischaracterizations. I can also understand pregnancy announcements being painful if you’re TTC.
#1: I am also a crocheter. They recommend learning how to do some kind of needlework (crocheting, knitting, or cross-stitch) if you have an anxiety disorder and I find crocheting can be calming.
Love the new glasses! And I think a break from online stuff is smart. It’s amazing how much my stress level goes down when I step away from the glowing screen for a while.
Praying for you with the TTC stuff!!
I like your glasses and you are in my prayers.
