While quick takes are usually hosted at Conversion Diary, today’s takes are being sponsored by the lovely Betty Beguiles!

Maggie is being baptized this weekend! I’m so excited for it. It’s just such a beautiful event; I mean, what’s more wonderful than seeing a new Christian being initiated into the faith?
Also, there’s going to be a party, with cake. AND, I get to hang out with one of my best girls, Elizabeth. She and her wonderful husband are going to be Maggie’s godparents.

Maggie got a really sweet gift from my best bud since forever, Mary. It’s a little, tiny, one decade rosary. It’s seriously one of the most adorable things ever. I’m planning to put it on Maggie’s wrist for her baptism, so hopefully I can get a good picture of it to share.

Maggie had her two month appointment today, and her first round of shots. Let’s just say, she handled it way better than I did. She literally only cried for about 45 seconds. That’s my girl.

I just wanted to thank all of you who left supportive comments on my post from yesterday. I really appreciate it.

I can’t believe it’s Lent next week already! Atticus and I decided to do a family sacrifice, so we are giving up ice cream. We both ate a small dish basically every night while I was pregnant, and we’ve continued eating it a few nights a week since Maggie’s birth. It’s not the healthiest, and we both love it, so it seemed like a great idea for a Lenten sacrifice.
I am generally (read, every single Lent) a failure at sticking to my sacrifice, but I am DETERMINED this year to do it!

What have you all been reading lately?? I don’t really need any new books for right now, but I’d love to hear about what you all have been reading.

Is it ok to wear a black dress to a baptism? I know you’re supposed to wear white (are you?), but I don’t really have much that doesn’t look like a pup tent on me, so I think I may have to wear something black. What do you think?
Well, that’s all. Have a great weekend friends!

I wore black to Charlotte’s baptism (with a pink pattern on it) because nothing else fit. I wore orange to Sienna’s because nothing else fit. I wore a black skirt, black sweater, black tights and white blouse to Liam’s because…can you guess?
I think it doesn’t matter. My sis-in-law wore a black dress to her son’s and her goddaughter’s baptism and looked fine. You have enough to worry about!
Since you are not the one being baptized, wear the black! I wore black to Marinn’s:)
Your post from yesterday was well written-as usual. I saw part of the same story. It is sickening how the media rewards people for behaving irresponsibly.
The last 3 baptisms at our parish have had mom’s in black of some sort – all added some color to brighten it up (either a scarf or blouse or something like that). They all looked beautiful – and I didn’t really notice the black until you mentioned it here (I just remember thinking how good they all looked with an infant).
Prayers for your family, as Maggie is baptized.
Congratulations on baptizing Maggie! Yay! Welcome to the Faith, little girl!
I often wear black to baptisms of my kids because I’m usually post-partum and don’t have anything suitable in any other color to wear. I never heard that there was a dress code!
I’m reading The Silver Chair (with my Sarah) and Hunger Games and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Have a great weekend, Sarah!
When Joe was baptized Ryan was going to wear a black shirt with a bright colored tie and his dad freaked out saying, “You can’t wear black to a baptism!!!” Whaaaaa…??? I didn’ t know there was a dress code… :-S He ended up finding something brighter. I wore a brownish-blue-ish dress (you can see my pics on FB) I think the mother has the right to wear whatever she wants. (As long as it’s appropriate for Mass. Nothing hooker-ish, but I doubt you’ll have that problem, haha!) Her body isn’t the same as it was before pregnancy, AND she had to deal with the pain of birth. And it’s not like Maggie will only get 92% of the graces at her baptism if you wear black.
I thought about giving up ice cream for Lent, but I’m doing the whole facebook thing instead. Maybe… I’ll probably change my mind!
That’s so exciting about her baptism! I have another friend whose baby is being baptized this weekend. I’m so excited for both babies!
Congrats on Maggie’s baptism! I wouldn’t worry about wearing black to her baptism. Last year when my daughter was baptized, I wore all black, mainly because that was the only slightly dressy outfit that fit that I owned… Show’s off the white of the baptism gown very well!
Yay for baptism–it is Gus’s baptism tomorrow as well, so they will be baptism buddies
I’m wearing purple.
And well done to Maggie on her shots–such a brave girl!
Good quick takes and good comments! I’m giggling at Maggie’s comment. Go for the black – I like how Rebecca suggested adding a splash of color, but Katherine’s point that it’ll highlight the white sounds good, too! And most importantly, congrats on her baptism! Please share pics!
We got a sweet little one decade rosary, too. We pinned it to the little fish that hangs over her swing. I never even thought to have her wear it – what a great idea!
I think those first shots were actually hardest on Greg!
